Charter boat fishing with Captain Dave Wittenborn out of Beach Haven, New Jersey is a rewarding experience for fishermen of all levels.  Captain Dave has been fishing the local waters of Beach Haven, New Jersey all his life.  In fact, Captain Dave's family has been charter fishing these waters off Long Beach Island since the 1930's.  Captain Dave is a third generation charter captain and a passionate outdoor enthusiast.  He has a B.S. in marine science and biology from Rider University and first hand experience studying the marine ecosystems of New Jersey as well as Maine, New Hampshire and Florida.  Captain Dave has a United States Coast Guard 100 ton Master Captain's License.  When you charter with Captain Dave, you are being guaranteed that you are fishing with one of the most knowledgeable and experienced charter captains in Beach Haven.Compass Rose

Captain Dave offers inshore fishing trips for the professional to the novice fisherman aboard his beautiful brand new 2008 29ft Regulator, Compass Rose,  which is the perfect boat for inshore trips.  The Compass Rose is equipped with all of the latest marine electronics and has powerful twin 250 horsepower 4-stroke Yamaha engines.  The new boat also has a full private head, Sirius Satellite Radio and built in forward and rear seating which can now accommodate up to six passengers.  Click here for a video of this awesome fishing machine.  Crews who charter with Captain Dave will reach the fishing grounds faster than any other charter boat available on Long Beach Island.

In addition to charter trips aboard the Compass Rose, Captain Dave offers private guide and instructional trips aboard the clients own boat to the offshore canyons.  In these waters, we will mainly target tuna, marlin, dolphin and wahoo.  Captain Dave has extensive offshore fishing experience as a captain and a mate and will guide and instruct the client using their own boat and own equipment.  This service is very helpful for fisherman who are new to offshore fishing or for the person who just wants to relax on their own boat and entertain friends and guests.
Charter trips will be available in Beach Haven in the spring and summer.  During the spring season as the water temperature begins to rise into the low 50's, stripers become the game fish of choice.  It is not unusual for these fish to reach over 30lbs and we target these fish by live lining eels, chumming clams, trolling or casting lures along the sod banks.  As the water temperature rises into the 60's and 70's, we focus our fishing on the artificial reef formations off the New Jersey coast.  New Jersey has a wonderful artificial reef program where army tanks, ships, subway cars, tires filled with concrete and concrete balls are sunk to the ocean floor in designated areas to form artificial reefs.  These reefs form a habitat for hundreds of types of marine organisms which make for amazing fishing.  When fishing these reefs, blackfish, summer flounder, and sea bass are the targeted species.

As fall approaches, so does the legendary fall striper run.  Beginning in October, Captain Dave moves the Compass Rose north to Sandy Hook, NJ where he offers striper fishing trips for October and November.  The legendary fall striper run out of Sandy Hook is a fishing experience that is second to none.  Those who have had the opportunity to striper fish out of the Atlantic Highlands region  understand why I have moved my fishing operation north to these waters for the fall.   Crews will be targeting trophy size bass and I invite you and your crew to come along for a fishing adventure of a lifetime.
